Aftercare Instructions

Tattoo Aftercare

Taking proper care of your new tattoo is very important to ensure that it heals well and looks good for years to come!

1) We will cover your tattoo after it is complete. Please leave the bandage on until you get home or somewhere clean.

2) Gently wash the area of your tattoo with an antibacterial soap and warm water and pat it dry with a clean towel.

3) Leave your tattoo alone for the rest of the day. Make sure that any clothing touching it is clean and not restrictive. A fresh tattoo may stick to clothing and sheets so be mindful of what it is touching.

4) For the next 2 weeks, apply a thin layer of white, unscented hand lotion to your tattoo 2 - 3 times a day. (Aveeno, Vaseline Intensive Care, Jergens..etc) We do not recommend A&D Ointment, Vaseline and similar products.

5) We recommend avoiding excessive sunlight exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks.

6) Also avoid submersing your tattoo in water for 2 weeks. Showers are fine but avoid lakes, pools, oceans, bathtubs and hot tubs if you are unable to keep your tattoo above water.

7) In the next 7-10 days your tattoo will peel not unlike a sunburn. This is normal and part of the healing process. You may also experience some heavier layers of buildup or possibly scabbing. Do not over lotion the tattoo and do not pick at it.

8) If any part of your tattoo requires a touch-up then we ask that you wait 3-4 weeks before coming in to request a touch-up. Larger tattoos may require more time.

9) We do offer touch-ups for the first year, so if you are unable to come see us right away, you are welcome to at a later time.
